Your website already holds the answer. A price list, a menu, opening hours, a timetable - it is all there, on a page you update yourself. The trouble is that on many sites that information is shown as a picture. A visitor asks the assistant what a session costs or when the kitchen closes, and the assistant has nothing to read. The page text says "see our menu" and the menu is an image. The visitor gets no answer, or a vague one, and leaves to find out somewhere else.
What changed
The assistant's knowledge base now reads the text inside the images on your website. Not just the page text around them - the words in the picture itself. It also reads the alt text and the captions that go with each image, and answers from all of it together.
So when a visitor asks something that your site only shows in a picture, the assistant can answer with what that picture says.
A moment that used to end in silence
A visitor is planning a visit and wants to know whether the place is open later on a weekday. The answer is on the site, in the opening-hours graphic on the contact page, and nowhere in the page text. Before, the assistant could only say it did not know. Now it reads that graphic, finds the line for that day, and replies with it. The visitor gets the answer in the same conversation, without calling anyone or hunting through the site.
That is the whole point of the change: fewer questions that end with "I will have to check with the team", and more that end with a real answer.
The kinds of images it reads
The assistant reads images that carry information a customer would ask about, for example:
- price lists and rate cards
- menus
- opening hours signs and notices
- timetables and schedules
- brochure graphics with details in them
It reads them together with their alt text and captions, so a well-described image helps even more.
Nothing to re-type or upload
You do not need to rewrite your menu as text, retype a price list, or upload anything new to the knowledge base. The assistant works from the site you already have. If the information lives in an image on your pages, that is enough.
When it starts, and what happens when an image changes
It is on for every Chatixy assistant, with nothing to switch on. It applies from your site's next crawl. If you change an image - a new menu, updated hours - the assistant reads it again on the next crawl, so the answer follows the picture.
Some images are skipped on purpose. Logos and icons are not read, because they carry no information a visitor would ask about. That keeps the knowledge base focused on the content that answers questions.
What stays the same
Answers still come from your own content, with sources cited, and a conversation can still be handed to a teammate in the same thread with the full transcript attached. The assistant simply has more of your real content to work from now.
